Is my pet eligible?
If your cat or dog is under 14 years old, they’re eligible for lifelong cover. To qualify for this special offer, your pet needs to have had a vet exam within the last 24 hours or came home from one of our participating breeders.
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. No payment details needed unless you decide to continue. We believe that once you see how helpful Trupanion can be, you’ll want to stay with us for good.
Can I activate the offer whenever I want?
Timing matters. You need to activate your offer within 24 hours of your pet’s vet exam, or within 24 hours of bringing them home from a participating breeder. So don’t wait too long!
What happens after I activate the code?
Your pet will be covered for 30 days. If you want to keep the coverage going, you can sign up for a full policy anytime during the 30-day period. You won’t be charged until the end of the 30 days.
If you wait until after the offer ends to buy a policy, standard waiting periods will apply. Plus, any illness or injury covered during the trial would be considered pre-existing.
What are pre-existing conditions?
Pre-existing conditions are health issues your pet had before coverage starts. That means anything that showed signs before you activated the offer.
No pet insurance provider can cover these. That’s why it’s best to start coverage before your pet gets sick or injured. Trupanion covers all* new injuries and illnesses, giving you reassurance when you need it most.
What veterinary hospitals can I use with Trupanion?
Any licensed veterinarian in Australia! Unlike some pet insurance providers that require you to use a specific veterinary network, we believe your pet deserves access to the best care, wherever that may be.
With Trupanion, you’re free to visit any licensed vet, specialist, or emergency hospital across the country.
What’s not covered?
We’re all about transparency. While Trupanion covers a whole lot, here are a few things we don’t include:
- Routine and preventative care
Think teeth cleaning, nail trims, flea treatments, and other regular check-ups. These are the things you can plan for and budget out. - Consultation or exam fees
We cover the treatment, not the chat. That means vet visit fees are on you, but anything they diagnose and treat that’s eligible? We’ve got that covered. - Pre-existing conditions
If your pet showed signs of something before coverage began, we won’t be able to cover it. That’s why it’s best to get your furry friend insured sooner rather than later!
